This session presents an in-depth overview of our philosophy as well as explicit training instruction for spelling at SBSUM. Rather than memorizing a finite list of sight words, students are taught foundational phonetics and spelling rules that will equip them to independently decipher and spell every word in the English language. Come and learn about the curriculum we use in the spelling years, and how to instruct your student in our materials at home. Video Recording

Derivatives to Dialogue: How to Navigate Greek and Latin in the Grammar Phase

Greek is taught in 1st and 2nd grade as a foundational to the English language. Latin is introduced in 3rd and 4th grades as an additional support for helping students to understand the way the English language has been constructed, which will aid them in mastery for the years in English language arts for years to come.
